Meadow Lane Winery Ltd is a charming country winery located east of St. Thomas. The winery is situated on a 45 acre farm. The farm has a tranquil meadow nestled among the timbers as well as some woodlands at the further most edge of the property. The farm produces a variety of different berries which are used to make some of our wines. Currently, we have vineyards developing with Zweigelt, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Hibernal grape varieties.
We have a large selection of outstanding fruit and grape wines. With continued hard work and determination, the entire Myszko family has made Meadow Lane Winery a friendly and inviting place to visit.
About our Winemaker:
Walter gained insight into the fruit wine making process as a child growing up in Poland. At the age of 15, he left his family to come to Canada to live with his aunt and uncle on their tobacco farm. Being the eldest of all the children on the farm, Walter was given a great deal of responsibility in operating the farm. This has gained him the necessary farming knowledge and experience utilized now in growing our vineyards.
After completing high school, Walter went off to college. It was during his college years that Walter regained the interest in wine and started to experiment with the process of wine making. Fruit was chosen because it was the most readily available resource used to develope his wine making skills.
Always eager to gain more knowledge about wine making principles and applications, Walter often sought materials to further his education and understanding. By doing this, his techniques have improved and of course so did his wines. The proof of this is in the four awards that he won at his first Le Bec Fin, All Canada Wine Championships. Silver - Framboise Silver - Black Currant Bronze - Plum Bronze - Elderberry. In 2003, with great pleasure we accepted our first gold medal for our Gooseberry wine, made from our own farm grown berries.
